LADY J HUSTON RECEIVES MUSIC GRANT COHORT AWARD FROM MUSIC TO LIFE
We are excited to announce that Lady J Huston has been selected as an official Juried Artist with Music to Life (MtL) for the spring 2024, Musician Changemaker Accelerator Academy!
Representing Missouri, 10 artists were selected in states across America. MtL is a national nonprofit founded by a cultural icon for the political and protest movements of the ‘60’s, Noel Paul Stookey (of the folk trio Peter, Paul & Mary) and his enterprising daughter, Liz, carrying the organization's vision together. They are dedicated to cultivating & empowering a network of musician change agents.
Lady J’s program, “Harmony of Heritage: Empowering Voices through Blues” will educate and inspire African American youth in St. Louis, MO to discover their family trees and learn the integral role Blues has played in all American music genres. They will incorporate these concepts into performances, songwriting, or other musical expressions that will enhance their social landscape and communities. After surviving a traumatic health crisis, Lady J returned to the stage in 2018 with the debut of "The Lady J Huston Show & Tribute to Albert King" at the National Blues Museum. Lady J Huston continues to soar with her "Groove Me Baby" album charting at #1 on the Roots Music Report in Soul Blues at its 2023 release. She loves performing and engaging with the audience and appreciates all the fans & supporters of her music.
“When Lady J whips out that trumpet and begins to blow you know the show has started. This multi-talented, multi-award-winning artist with ties back to Albert King brings an easy rapport, an outstanding band and a mix of Jazz, Blues & Classic Soul to the stage.”
