Lady J’s song, “Hide-Away,” was the most complicated recording challenge [Paul] Niehaus has faced to date. The arrangement is an intricate mix of styles and tempos. “The foundation is a blues ballad that expands the standard blues chord progressions,” Lady J explains, “and mixes in some jazz elements like Duke Ellington and Count Basie and some up-beat funk.”

Lady J Huston's Vocal arrangement and Trumpet solo updates this well-known Christmas carol. She delivers from the guts of her Gospel roots inter-mixed with her love of the Blues, Soul & Jazz. Lady J was also classically trained on the Trumpet and studied Opera in college. She included these styles as well, inspired by the lush symphonic orchestration that accompanies her.
Lady J has a special affinity for singing Christmas carols. She’s organized choirs, performed as a soloist, and as a young girl caroled through the streets and hospitals. O Holy Night is one of her all-time favorites which reflects on the birth of Jesus as humanity's redemption.
