Lady J Huston's Roots & Blues program, “Harmony of Heritage: Empowering Voices through Blues” will educate and inspire African-American teens to discover their family trees and learn the integral role Blues has played in all American music genres. They will be able to incorporate these concepts into musical & personal expressions that will enhance their social landscape and communities.
Participants will build a family tree and be provided with resources to learn how the roots of the Blues intertwine with generations of family histories which has cultivated today's music.
All ages & cultures are welcome to join us at the Vashon Center on the campus of Harris-Stowe State University (enter on Compton to the 2nd floor, plenty of parking). This newly built facility is the home of the National Black Radio Hall of Fame Museum & Wolff Jazz Institute Gallery.
